Here is the first of the portrait series that I began.
I began with bold colors as a smooth stroke which I later
broke down through the weeks.
This was the second portrait that I began which I chose
to move more boldly with color and stroke. Overall I believe
that this one was not as successful as the first but moved me in
a better direction further away from photo realism style painting,
which I was avoiding in the first place.
This painting is the last of the portrait series
that I was working on the past couple of months.
Once again it has an exaggerated use of color and
the brush style has also moved from long streaks to
a quicker dabbing motion. My technique is still not
quite where I want it to be but I believe that I am
still moving in the right direction.
This last piece is an abstract work that I have been
working on over the past couple of months. This is not
my first attempt at a purely abstract work but it is the
first time that I have dedicated an entire month to an
abstract work. This work has gone through many
renditions and have accumulated many layers of paint
to get to this point. I believe, though, that this turned
into a successful work.
These are the paintings that I worked on over the past couple months. This blog will take a short break while I gather supplies but in the next couple of weeks I will show you the process of my work as I paint it.
